Drawings at CC

Hey y'all! :)
Today I'm sharing two of the originals I drew at Comic Con this year. Both of them were sold on the spot; The owner of the "horse" drawing was so kind to have it scanned for me. *heart* So grateful!
So far I wasn't so lucky with the other one. however. *sniff sniff* I'm glad I was able to take a picture of it, for the record...

Thank you all who stopped by! See you next year. :)

Starlight Drum Cover

Sharing the love!
Here is the song I've been learning lately: "Starlight", by Muse. :D I adore this song and I feel really happy to be playing it by now. It's been one of my goals since I started learning drums 3 or so months ago. I feel I've made a lot of progress in the past 3 weeks. *heart* (don't mind my seriousness, I'm super focused in listening to the song, because I never count tempo. I know I should! -_-;)
I'm very aware of how much I need to improve, however, so I will be focusing on technique in the next few months. I hope to be so much better when I return to share another drum video with you. :)

Split (dance animation)

I have finally finished it! :D This animation is overdue... Sorry to those who were waiting for it!
One day I experimented with giving life to one of my dance drawings and learned a lot in the process. Sometimes I wish I could animate only my dance stuff all day so I could create lots of different things!

Flowolf

When I named this picture spontaneously (as I usually do with naming) I didn't realize right then that Wolf is Flow written backwards. :) Now I love the name even more! *heart*

I have watched the movie Ashes and Snow on Saturday. I consider it one of the most inspiring things I've seen in my life! It reminded me so much of my dance drawings... It suddely hit me, while watching the movie, that my dancers are mostly underwater dancers and I didn't even know it, :)
One thing is for sure: after watching this precious master piece of a film, my art will never be the same anymore.

Seems like the cold has officially arrived here... *brrr*

Finished Not Perfect

A powerful message for any creative! :) Especially for perfectionists, like me, who tend to let things unfinished just because they look far from what we wish them to be. Never too late to change that tendency. ;)

Inktober #31 and drums!!

This is my last inktober entry. Yesterday I visited a special place that holds a lot of dear memories for me. I didn't return there in many years. Coincidentally, I had a dream of that place the night before, when I had no plans whatsoever to visit the next morning. :D I only visited because, by chance, I happened to be nearby. Perhaps the dream influenced me to go. Anyhow, I felt like drawing the moment. :)

Im also sharing another moment of yesterday: the recording of my first drum cover. :D A song by Angus and Julia Stone. I started to learn this song a month ago. I know I do a lot of mistakes, sorry! I'm a beginner who started about 2,5 months ago, with less than 1 hour or so per week on the drum set. ;) So, still, I'm very happy to have learnt a song by now! (two, actually)
I'm already training another one, much more challenging for me, but still relatively easy for an experienced drummer. I'm happy and excited with it! Hope I can share it soon than I think, ahah!

Inktober #17

Had to miss 2 inktobers this weekend... too busy. Yesterday I was sick in bed, but I still managed to make a drawing when I was feeling better at night. :)

Inktober #13

Happened to me yesterday. Always trust your gut feeling, even if your mind is telling you "be reasonable". Your intuition knows best and is your best friend.

Inktober #11

Here's a more detailed one, to compensate for the lack of Inktober #10. ;)

It's a tribute to one of the biggest loves of my life, Michael Jackson, and, in a way, it's because of him that I couldn't make any drawing yesterday, ahah... ;)
So I finished the MJ drawing I started in his honor at his birthday in August.

I usually draw MJ by heart, and this was no exception. :)

Inktober #04

A random drawing done almost-sleeping-while-listening-to-music-after-a-long-day...
Couldn't let the day end without making the drawing, though. ;)

Inktober #01

So, I decided to participate for the first time on Inktober! :)
My series of drawings will be quickies, so don't expect my most beautiful works. :P They will be based on stuff that come across each day. It's gonna be fun!

The first one is about my new hobby and new found love: drums!! I started learning a few weeks ago and now got a wonderful new pair of sticks. A good pair of sticks versus a bad one does affect your performance remarkably! Had I known sooner...

Sérgio Martins Interview

My friend and colleague Sergio Martins gave an interview to AnimSchool yesterday. :)
I talked about him in a post earlier; he's an amazing animator and I'm honored to be working with him (and his twin brother) right now.
It's a great interview, especially if you're into animation 2D or 3D. Check it out here: Sergio Martins Interview

Rita Spider

Hello :)
I'm here today to present you my dance muse: Rita Spider.
She's an amazing dancer from Portugal. :) If you love hip hop, dubstep, house and stuff alike, you may have heard of her, because she's been dancing around the world for quite a while, including in Michael Jackson's "The Immortal" tour of Cirque du Soleil!

I absolutely adore her style and the way she moves, it's so inspiring to me. I admire her energy, passion and sense of rythm so much. And also many of her choices of music. Those rythms really make me wanna dance. :)
I am lucky and honored to have her as my hip hop teacher, she really makes us work and I love that! Rita has so much joy and energy when she dances that we get to feel the same. We go crazy dancing, yeah!!! :D

I used to think contemporary dance was my favorite style, but now I see clearly that it's the large range of street dance styles instead. What I love about street dance is that you can incorporate an inifite number of dance types, creating many different fusions. It's complete freedom. That's my favorite thing about it all. When you fuse hip hop with contemporary dance, for instance, the result is beautiful. :)

I'm leaving you today with a dubstep solo Rita created some years ago. It's quite fast, and you'll see how amazing she is. ;)
If you like that video, watch the next. It's not so energetic as the first, but still very much hipnotic. Part two of that show is very poetic and in the whole you'll see various styles mixed in one. :) She's a queen of fusion!

Hope you enjoy this wonderful dancer! ;)

Absense

Hey you guys!
I'm sorry for my absence, a lot has been going on, professionally wise. It's exciting and I hope to be able to give you more news sometime soon. I can tell that one of the exciting things is I'm honored to be working on a new project with the creative team of animators behind the band's Angels and Airwaves short film "Dream Walker". :D They're my friends and also my favorite animators from Portugal, so it's really awesome! *dances around happily*

In the meanwhile, I will keep postng drawings whenever I can.
Thank you for your patience and for being there, still. *heart*

Elements

Hello! Here's my latest work :)
It's been hard to keep up with uploading every week in the past two months, due to extra work and being sick in the middle of it all...
It's all more calm now, but I doubt it'll last long though, ahah... ;)

The Reason

Love this song from Hoobastank, "The Reason". *heart* I guess the rests speaks for itself... I wasn't thinking about the song when I drew this, but in the end, as I looked at them, the song kept coming into mind. :)

This was done with pencil on paper, painted digitally with open sourse software Krita. I've been experimenting with it and I really like it! :) Much more sensitive and responsive with the wacom than photoshop.

New Year, New Look, New Stuff

It felt like a little change after many years with the same layout... I also changed the name of the blog for a more suitable one, considering the stuff I've been doing lately.
To a fresh new start in the new year!!! :D

Today I'm sharing one of the first drawings of 2016; I've been drawing a lot of this kind of drawings and I will be sharing them. Expect at least two or more per week, because I really love drawing couples in love (besides dance) and it has been an effective soul therapy for me. I can't stop doing them now, so bear with me. ;) Expect a lot of love coming up this year!! *heart*

See you soon. :)
